Dr Jon Bashford

Jon is currently a founding partner and designated member of Community Innovations Enterprise LLP.  As a senior partner in the company Jon is responsible for business strategy and development including quality, contract management and performance.

Previously Jon has been a Director at the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust where he had the lead responsibility for the development of the Communities, Rights and Inclusion programme known as CORIIN.  This was a high level strategic management and organisational change programme which enabled the development of a number of successful service user, carer and community projects including the establishment of social enterprises and joint development initiatives to address a range of quality and performance issues.

Jon  led the establishment of an integrated equality and human rights service across three local NHS Trusts including both the City and County commissioning and service provision.

Prior to working in Leicestershire Jon was Associate Head at the International School for Communities, Rights and Inclusion(University of Central Lancashire) where he managed a wide range of research projects, learning and teaching programmes and commercial consultancies at regional, national and international levels.

Jon is an experienced senior manager, researcher and teacher with over 30 years experience working in health, social care and education in the public and voluntary sectors. He is particularly known for his work on equality and human rights and organisational change and has worked with a range of public sector organisations includingNHS Trusts and local authorities, NHS England, the Crown Prosecution Service, the Healthcare Commission, the Commission for Social Care and Inspection, the Mental Health Act Commission, the Prison Service and the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse.

Jon has always been committed in his approach to management, research and organisational change that equality and human rights are fundamental to effective and fair commissioning and service provision. In pursuing this commitment he has developed approaches to organisational change that seek to create and sustain lasting improvements for

His skills in complex stakeholder management and knowledge of legislation and policy have enabled the development of a number of innovative and successful programmes. Jon’s ability to work within a variety of organisational and community contexts has ensured that his portfolio of work has wide applicability across the public and voluntary sector.

Jon’s sound record and reputation as an innovative organisational change expert has led to his being asked to be an adviser on various government initiatives. He is an acknowledged expert on institutional racism and in particular how organisations can address these issues as part of their legal, ethical and business imperatives.

In 2008 Jon was granted the award of PhD for his work on institutional racism and organisational change. Jon was a member of the project team for the national Prison Drug Treatment Strategy Review Group and is a senior research advisor for Lord Patel of Bradford OBE.
